Wisconsin Film Festival screening

SOLSTICE will screen at the 15th Annual Wisconsin Film Festival on Sunday April 14, 2013 at 2:00pm at the UW Cinematheque. The film is part of the “Wisconsin’s Own” category and will screen with 5 other short films with Wisconsin ties.

“Evoking the visual heterogeneity and communal spirit of the festival they document, directors Megan Monday and Brijetta Hall Waller chart Madison’s annual summer solstice festival from the creation of costumes to the blazing nighttime finale with a playful, pastiche style that brims with warmth and good-natured humor.”

SOLSTICE is set for it’s Milwaukee premiere at the 14th Annual Milwaukee Short Film Festival on November 10th!

Approximately 150 people attended the opening of the Procession of the Species and SOLSTICE gallery show and the SOLSTICE film premiere at Overture Center for the Arts on May 11th.

Megan Monday summed it up well with an entry on the SOLSTICE Facebook page:

It was a riot: FORWARD! played, cookies were eaten, puppets were petted, film was watched. Community was cultivated and fortified. Thanks for BRINGING IT, people. For showing up and digging in.

Megan Monday pitching for SOLSTICE/Procession of the Species at MADISON SOUP

Filmmaker/photographer, Megan Monday, will be screening an excerpt from SOLSTICE and making a fundraising pitch for film post production costs and print exhibition expenses (for the upcoming joint SOLSTICE/Procession of the Species Overture Center exhibition) at Madison SOUP on Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 6-8pm at Sector 67 2100 Winnebago St, Madison.

Interested guests to the SOUP event need to RSVP in advance via the SOUP Facebook Event page or they can purchase/reserve tickets through the SOUP Eventbrite page. The dinner is $10 and guests will enjoy fabulous creative pitches PLUS roasted red pepper potato soup, a salad bar, bread choices and beverages. Winner of the “pitch” will receive the evenings donations to apply to his/her creative project. How fantastic is that?!

Please come for the SOUP, listen to the pitches and support the arts and creativity here in Madison. Oh and perhaps vote for SOLSTICE/Procession of the Species while you’re at it!

SOLSTICE to premiere at Overture Center

SOLSTICE filmmakers, Megan Monday and Brijetta Hall Waller are joining Procession of the Species Artistic Director, Laurie Rossbach to present an exciting exhibition at the Overture Center for the Arts (Madison, WI) this spring.

The exhibit will feature larger than life masks and puppets from Procession of the Species, video excerpts from SOLSTICE and photographic prints from the film by Megan Monday. The exhibit will be installed in the Overture Center Playhouse Gallery and will run through June, 16, 2012.

SOLSTICE will premiere on the rotunda stage screen at Overture Center on May 11, 2012. The opening reception for the exhibition will follow. Stay tuned for details about this exciting event.

Fundraising is now underway to support the production costs of SOLSTICE and the photographic prints for the Overture Center exhibition. Please help us make this film and the exhibit a great success!
